Trolls: A Retrospective is a multi-episodic presentation

that chronicles the history of trolls from the Viking age to our contemporary era.

Why?

Trolls are amongst us. They always have been.

They are ugly, beautiful, in the woods, in the towns, in the home--and sometimes--in us.

Wait...what?

What what? Oh! You wanna know what a troll really is?

Here's a clue: the following verses are the first ever recorded encounter between troll and human. The troll speaks first:

They call me Troll;

Gnawer of the Moon,

Wealth-sucker of the Giant,

Seeress's friendly companion,

Night-roaming hag,

Swallower of the wheel of heaven.

What is a Troll but that?

The rest is in the Retrospective.

How?

Through a series of visually captivating and skillfully resourced episodes

that take you on a journey through the Early, Mid, Modern and Contemporary troll eras.

Episodes can be experienced a la carte or as a whole,

tailored to audiences of all demographics,

and narrated by me, Britte, in person or virtually.

-EPISODE 1-

"Troll Genesis: from the hammer to the cross"

In the beginning there was...Ymir! Let's back in time to the origin of the universe, man, and troll as according to Norse mythology. We’ll take a stroll through the eddas that were imperfectly passed down through early recorded history in order to discover (through the lens of humans) how trolls came to populate the forests of Nordic lands. What were the first recorded interactions between trolls and humans? As medieval times graduated into renaissance, how were these encounters interpreted by the folks who lived them? What role does bias play in these recordings? Could it be that trolls and humans have always been at odds, or was there room for harmonious cohabitation?
